Since I didn't watch much TV in college, I have had to catch up on good shows...and 24 has been awesome!

Don't we all want a Jack Bauer in our world (although Melissa does sometimes mistake me for him...I wish!). He has a sixth sense and always comes through. While it is neat to see this ultimate McGuiver go at it, I think that people are often drawn to it because of the tension of incredible losses...family members, friends, you never know who will die, and the directors take no mercy. Similar to our lives, the losses are unpredictable and sudden. Yet the way that Bauer and others continue to fight the enemy even amidst such heartache is for me what makes the show. The hero overcomes and continues to fight.

In reality, I always need to remember that there is a spiritual battle out there. If we all only knew that there was an enemy and something to fight for, more people would recover from their heartache and channel it fighting the good battle of faith, but most of us forget that there is a battle, not necessarily a physical battle. For me, the battle is for my heart...not to settle for comfort and security but for something more, something greater. Enough integration of 24 and faith for now...until next time.
